New Mail

Those dusty books that stood for years
Unread on some lost shelf,
Contain within their pages still
Great wisdom and great wealth.

Since then the paperback was born,
The faster printing press.
The volume of the words is more,
The value of them less.

Now faster faster come the text,
In Sunday paper piles,
The E mail flooded internet,
Abbreviated styles

RU, is what is written now.
RU4 reading 2?
UC, I must reply to that,
I'm 4 & so R U.

I C my corespondent writes,
I C U R OK.
Oh how these fashions grate.
So stop it now I beg you all
B4 it is 2 L8.
